Highlights from Region X

Center for Health Training, has managed the Title X Family Planning Training Program in Region X since 1980. In addition CHT has managed the Region Family Planning Technical Assistance Project since 1999.

Highlights from our training calendar during our fiscal year from July-June each year are as follows:

  • The Northwest Institute for Community Health Educators (NICHE) was founded in 1985 by CHT, Region X. NICHE is a five-day, residential institute for sexuality, family planning, family life, HIV, and general health educators including public health nurses and teachers. This institute is now offered every other year and the next NICHE is scheduled for July 24-29, 2011, Rainbow Lodge, North Bend, Washington.
  • Growing People Potential: An Institute for Managers and Supervisors is a three-day, residential institute and is designed to give clinic managers, clinic supervisors, clinic team leaders, program directors, medical/nursing leads an opportunity to explore new ways to motivate staff using effective communication skills, team building and practical strategies for hiring to retiring. Growing People Potential IV was offered October, 2008 and is offered every other year. The next event will be scheduled for 2010.
