About this audio conference
This 90 minute audio conference focuses on the laws, reporting procedures, policies and systems that need to be in place to serve family planning adolescent clients in Arizona.
By the end of this audio conference, participants will be able to:
- Describe the minor consent laws regarding reproductive heath care and sexual abuse in Arizona.
- Describe the confidentiality and reporting laws pertaining to sexual abuse.
- State one approach for implementing the relevant laws into clinic practice.
- Define the need for front line and clinician training.
Intended audience
Agency administrators, clinic managers, clinicians, and any interested staff.
Speakers
Erica Bisgyer Monasterio, MSN, FNP, is Clinical Professor at the UCSF Department of Pediatrics and Nursing. Her expertise is in working with high risk clients in community-based settings and the development and monitoring of primary care programs which serve marginalized populations. Her special interests are in the areas of sexuality, risk assessment, and behavior change.
Rebecca Gudeman, JD, MPA is a senior attorney specializing in adolescent health care. She directs the National Center for Youth Law's adolescent reproductive health project and oversees the project's website, www.teenhealthrights.org. Rebecca is author of numerous articles and papers on consent and confidentiality law and trains nationally on these issues. She began her career with the Children's Rights Project at Public Counsel in Los Angeles, where she created Public Counsel's Teen Legal Clinic program.
